Simon Rios moved to Texas from Chihuahua, Mexico in 1970. That same year, he married Maria Del Socorro Sotelo, and together they built a life centered on family and love.Simon worked as a heavy machine operator for over 40 years in Sundown and Denver City. He was proud of his work and well known for his strong work ethic. Simon loved visiting with friends and family and truly never met a stranger. His friendly nature earned him the title of “honorary Walmart greeter,” a role he fit perfectly.In his younger years, Simon enjoyed listening to his favorite Mexican music on the radio, especially tuning in to DJ Rey Torres. He lived an interesting life and loved sharing his stories with anyone willing to listen.Simon’s greatest joy was his grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Buelo.”Simon will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His warmth, stories, and kind spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
