Richard was born on November 12, 1948 to Adon Sr. & Dominga Gomez in Morton, TX. He attended High School in Morton. He became a professional carpenter, mason (someone who lays bricks), and a painter while refurbishing homes with his father. He married the love of his life, Pilar Ida Alvarado, on August 12, 1967 in Lubbock. They had six children together. Richard became an ordained Baptist minister at the age of 39 and Ministered the Word of the Lord for over 30 years at The First Baptist church and at La Primera Iglesia Bautista in Morton and Bula. His hobbies included playing his guitar, singing, and writing songs. He loved preaching the word and reading his bible, talking to everyone he met, “ no one was a stranger”. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to Nevada to visit his in laws. He loved spending quality time with his family and grandchildren. Pastor Richard will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his Spouse of 52 years; Mrs. Pilar Ida Gomez of Morton, Son; Richard Q. Gomez of Lubbock, Daughters; Margret Gomez (Paul Hernandez), and Cynthia (Lucio) Esguerra, both of Lubbock, Lydia (Chris) Ortega of Shallowater, Isabell (Geno) Cavezuela of Morton, Sonia (Joe) Ruiz of El Paso; 11 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, Sisters; Nancy Gomez of Lubbock and Tonia Herrera of Roswell, N.M., Brothers; Johnny Gomez of Lubbock and Mario Gomez of Twin Falls, Idaho, Host of Nieces and Nephews
