Marvin (Jax) McSpadden of Lubbock, formerly of Sundown, was born on August 8th, 1934 in Lubbock, TX to J.W. & Iris B. McSpadden. He served in the United States Army Reserves during the Korean War. He married Dellwyn Carter on February 9th, 1979 in Austin, TX. They had three children. After serving in the Army he went to Texas Tech where he earned his Masters Degree in Mathematics. He became a principal and was the High School Principal at Ropesville Independent School District for 5 years and Sundown School District for 15 years. He retired in 1991. He moved to Lubbock from Sundown in 2009. Jax loved football and his Dallas Cowboys and always wore his Dallas Cowboy’s jacket. He was a football player for West Texas State and later became a football coach. He coached in many places including Wink, Crosbyton and Lubbock HIgh School. For as much as he loved football, he loved God and family more than anything else. Jax loved to woodwork and he made many beautiful pieces of furniture. He was also very interested in computers and because of his math background, he was a whiz, and could figure out almost any problem. He enjoyed reading Louis L'amour's Old Westerns books.
Jax said to say when he was called to be home with Jesus, "Wahoo!! Look what the Lord has done". Jax will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Parents; J. W. & Iris Blakely McSpadden, Brother; R. L. Mc Spadden, Daughter; Marva Richelle Redman, and Sister; Glorietta Colvin
He is survived by his Wife of 41 years; Dellwyn Carter McSpadden of Lubbock, Sons; Steve (Stacy) Rucker of Rhome, TX and Mark (Judy) Rucker of Lubbock, Brother; W. J. (Babs) McSpadden of Waco, TX, 8 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
Visitation & Reflections of Life will be held Sunday, July 19th, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM @ Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel in Levelland.
Interment will be held Monday, July 20th, 2020 at the Afton Cemetery @ 10:00 A.M. in Dickens County, TX
Memorial Service will be held Monday, July 20th, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. @ South Plains Church in Levelland. Jax was a deacon and long time member of South Plains Church. Officiating will be Pastor Eddie Trice and Music will be by Sharon Lane.
