Juventina Murillo

Juventina Murillo was born January 25, 1929 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Epifano and Rebecca Castro Quiroz. She went to be with the Lord  October 27, 2020. Juventina attended College and graduated with her teaching degree. She taught elementary school in Mexico for five years. She taught all her children how to read and write in Spanish. She married Antonio Murillo January 18, 1953 in Ciudad Anahuac, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. They were blessed with four children. They relocated to Levelland, Texas in 1953 and have been in Levelland ever since. Her hobbies were cooking (she expected all her children to come for lunch, plus, anybody else was welcome), embroidery, watching her favorite baseball team, “The New York Yankees”.  Juventina  was a person of very strong faith. Her children thought of their mother as a savior because of her strong faith. She prayed  day and night for her son when he was young and ill for months. Her son believes she saved him with her prayers. Above all, she loved All her children, grandchildren, and Great grandchildren. She was a life time member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Levelland.

Juventina Murillo nació el 25 de enero de 1929 en Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, México de Epifano y Rebecca Castro Quiroz. Se fue a estar con el Señor el 27 de Octubre de 2020. Juventina atendio la Universidad y se graduó con su título de maestra. Enseñó en la escuela primaria en México durante cinco años. Enseñó a todos sus hijos a leer y escribir en español. Se casó con Antonio Murillo el 18 de Enero de 1953 en Ciudad Anahuac, Nuevo León, México. Fueron bendecidos con quatro hijos. Se mudaron a Levelland, Texas en 1953 y han estado en Levelland desde entonces. Sus pasatiempos eran cocinar (esperaba que todos sus hijos vinieran a almorzar, además, todos los demás eran bienvenidos), bordar, ver su equipo de béisbol favorito, “The New York Yankees”. Juventina era una persona de fe muy fuerte. Sus hijos pensaban en su madre como una salvadora debido a su fuerte fe. Rezó día y noche por su hijo cuando era joven y estuvo enfermo durante meses. Su hijo cree que ella lo salvó con sus oraciones. Por encima de todo, amaba a todos sus hijos, nietos y bisnietos. Fue miembro vitalicio de la Iglesia Católica St. Michael de Levelland.

She was preceded in death by her Parents; Epifano and Rebecca Castro Quiroz, Husband of 57 years; Antonio Murillo, Granddaughter; Lourdes Murillo, 5 Brothers, and 2 Sisters.

She is survived by her Sons; Frank (Marianna) Murillo and Mario (Yolanda) Murillo, both of Levelland, Daughters; Norma (Lupe) Garcia of Levelland, and Beatriz (Daniel) Rodriguez of Lubbock, 11 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, Sisters; Hortencia Quiroz of Mexico and Rosa Acevedo of Laredo, TX.

Visitation will be Friday, October 30th, from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. @ Head Duarte Funeral Home of Levelland.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 31th, at 10:00 A.M. @ St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Levelland. Officiating the service will be Fr. Jonathan Phillips and  music will be provided by Johnny Vasquez. Interment will follow at the City of Levelland Cemetery of Levelland.
