Jose Juan Ortega

Jose Juan Ortega: Shortly after his birth in Menard, TX on August 29th, 1950, born to Alfredo Sr. and Valentina Ortega, he moved to the South Plains area.  As an adult, Jose moved to Sundown, TX where he started his family and worked in the Oil field as a Derrick Man and a Roustabout for M & Q Oil Co. for several years.  His hobbies were watching the Grit Western Station watching his favorite actor John Wayne, and his favorite movie 'Top Gun'. He liked building nick knacks and stuff and fixing things, showing his grandchildren how to work with tools. In the evening he’d go outside on the sundeck and sit on his favorite chair and light up a cigarette and pop a top on a cold one enjoying the sunset.

Daughters: Consuelo Rodriguez of Sundown, and Natasha Ortega, Janie Sierra, and Cynthia Cantu all three of Lubbock,  Lorie Ann Covarrubias of San Antonio

Sons: Joe Ortega of Abilene, Jesse Aguilar and Henry Sierra both of Lubbock,

Grandchildren:  15    Great Grandchildren:  9

Sisters: Tina Collins of Florida, Betty Lopez of Levelland, Diane Davila of South Carolina, Angela Ortega, Yolanda Ortega and Lisa Ortega all three of Lubbock and Rebecca Orona of Presidio

Brothers:   Mingo Ortega and Tive Mares
