Johhny Lucero Duarte, of Clovis, NM, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at the age of 80. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Chapel of Angles, 1430 Thornton Street. Rosary will be held Monday, July 1, 2024, 8:30 am and Mass of Christian Burial to follow, 9:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 921 N Merriwether. Burial to follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, 1601 E Llano Estacado. Colton Duarte, Landon Duarte, Jonathan Duarte, Aaron Lopez, Patrick Duarte, and Paul Quilantan will serve as pallbearers. Johnny was born on March 1, 1944, to Jose Antonio Duarte and Victoria Lucero Duarte in Carlisle, TX. He married the love of his life Frances Chavez Cantu in Morton, TX, on September 21, 1968. Johnny worked for Buffalo Farms for 28 years. He moved to Clovis NM and worked for the Clovis Municipal Schools. Later, along with his wife, he started Professional Glass Cleaners a window washing and janitorial business. He enjoyed painting, singing, fishing, shooting guns, cooking out, and dancing. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his children: Johnny “JJ” Duarte (wife Joy Bell) of Ennis, TX; Denise Lopez (husband Leo Lopez) of Clovis, NM; Nick Duarte of San Antonio, TX; Brother: Ray Duarte of Portales, NM; Six grandchildren: Colton Duarte, Landon Duarte, Jonathan Duarte, Kathryn Duarte, Victoria Duarte, and Adrienne Lopez; One great grandchild: Heidi Duarte. He is preceded in death by his spouse: Frances Chavez Cantu Duarte; Parents: Jose Antonio and Victoria Lucero Duarte; Brothers: Mike, Steve, Vincent, & Bonnie; Sisters: Mary & Gina.
