Joe “Chicho” was born on November 26, 1933 in Yoakum, TX to Pancho Fransico and Isidra Orosco Gomez. Joe went to be with the Lord December 4, 2020. He married Maria Zamora August 5, 1951 in Levelland. They were blessed with five children. They moved to Levelland in 1955 from Brush, Colorado. Joe was a farmer and rancher for Farris Gresham, Billy Jackson, Marvin Greene, Cody and Jimmy Crenshaw for several years. He also worked for Levelland Independent School District as a bus driver for 10 years. Joe was one of the few men and last living member of the group of men who helped clear the land including digging up trees and breaking ground without heavy machinery for what is now the Levelland Country Club Golf Course. You’d never see Joe with out his Fedora hat on, when he’d go out. Joe’s passion was taking trips to the lake so he’d hitch up the camper and take his best friend and fishing buddy, Maria and they’d go camping and fishing. He enjoyed gatherings with his family and loved all his grandchildren. Joe is a life time member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Levelland.
