David DeLeon was born on May 5, 1951 in Levelland, Texas, the 4th of eight children born to the late George DeLeon and the late Guadalupe Zamora DeLeon. He was raised in Levelland where he attended schools, and was a graduate of Levelland High School. He would meet SanJuanita Montez at his workplace in Levelland, and they would marry and remain together for the next forty-seven years.
Shortly after graduation, David would join the US Army, serving from March of 1975 until April of 1979. At a young age, he learned the skill of carving and preparing meat for local grocery stores. It was a skill he would maintain as his livelihood until the time of his retirement at the age of sixty-two.
David was extremely devoted to his wife, 3 daughters and his grandchildren. He was the monarch to his family. He instilled love, compassion, honesty, devotion, adventure, love for traveling, love for sweets, not being lost but "sight seeing", love for family, caring for each other and teaching life lessons. He loved taking his grandchildren on month-long vacations every summer.
He was generous to a fault, giving to anyone in need. David never met a stranger. He treated everyone as family, never negative toward anything or anyone. He was always willing to feed you, have a beer with you, talk with you, or help you in any way. He made an impact on many young men and ladies who were recipients of his attention and advice. He will live in our hearts forever!
He is survived by his wife; Sanjuanita Montez DeLeon; daughters, Heather DeLeon and spouse Joseph Gaona, Stacie Arevalo and spouse Pete Arevalo, Melissa DeLeon; 12 grandchildren, (with 2 great-grandchildren expected soon); siblings, Pedro DeLeon, Janie Chavarria, Avel DeLeon and Tonie Vasquez.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings George DeLeon, Jr., Jessie DeLeon, and Mary DeLeon.
