Angelita Elena Vargas

Angelita Elena was born on March 18, 1940 in Yoakum, TX to Jose & Josphine De Leon Cuellar of Yoakum, TX. She married Ernest Vargas on August 22, 1972 in Cuero, TX. They had three children from this union. They moved to Levelland from Rospesville in 1978. Angelita worked as a teacher’s aide for Ropesville Independent School District, (ISD), from 1981 until 2003. In 2003 she transferred to Plainview ISD where she was the Migrant Clerk Secretary from 2003 – 2012. She helped countless families achieve their education. Her bobbies included playing bingo, going to casinos, dancing, reading, drawing, coloring with her grandchildren, and she kept a scrap book of her recipe clippings. She enjoyed shopping at Walmart, and liked to travel, especially to Houston, Corpus Christi, and the state of Washington to visit family. Her family was very important to her. She was also known for her great cooking and loved when her husband would barbeque. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her Parents; Santos Jose and Josephine De Leon Cuellar.

She is survived by her Spouse of 48 years; Ernest Vargas of Levelland, Sons; Danny (Lorina) Guajardo of Houston and Darrell (Alex) Vargas of Munich, Germany, Daughter; Sandra (Robert) Dobbs of Lubbock, 3 Grandsons, 3 Great Grandsons, Sister; Mary Rosales of Ropesville, Brothers; Ernest Cuellar of Cuero TX, Danny Cuellar, and Frank Barron both of Yoakum, TX.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, August 19th-22nd from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, and Monday, August 23rd & 24th, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. @ Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel of Levelland.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 25th, at 10:00 a.m. @ Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel of Levelland. Officiating the service will be Pastor Richard Trevino and music will be provided by Johnny Vasquez. Interment will follow after the service at City of Levelland Cemetery of Levelland.
